When Arnold came to you in January, I was told he had about two weeks to live. Because of YOUR care, he lived until May. For a man who refused to eat at home, it was wonderful to see him look forward to his lunch and tea, that he had eaten breakfast and eaten dinners always followed by ice cream. All these things add up to an enormous gift that you all, as a care home gave to Arnold in the last few months of his life. That is exactly how I wish to describe it- a gift- the very best gift he could ever have received: a life that was lives, a hope for tomorrow and the tender hand of care when he needed it.

A luxury, family-run care home with stunning views across Swansea Bay
I have nothing but high esteem for all the work the staff at Hengoed Care do for my father. This includes the grounds men, maintenance, cleaners, care assistants, nursing staff and management team. The care they provide shows such a homely and friendly environment which I would fully recommend to anyone.

It is endearing to see my mothers face light up when she sees the carers, she knows them and recognises them straight away and you can tell she feel at home and safe.

A 12-acre lakeside park bringing all the therapeutic benefits of time spent in nature.
Our 12-acre nature park is a focal point for our residents, their families, and the local community. Set around a lake that’s home to families of swans and ducks, it has wheelchair-friendly paths and viewpoints overlooking Crymlyn Burrows and Swansea Bay.
Our nature park prompts happy memories with the help of painted murals depicting popular local landmarks of the present and the past – including the Big Apple, the Mumbles lighthouse, and the historic Mumbles train. Residents and their families are encouraged to explore, meeting our resident ponies, sheep, rabbits, lovebirds, peacocks and doves.
Many of our residents love gardening, and we support them in tending our gardens, which produce award-winning displays of flowers in the summer months. When the weather is less obliging, residents and their families and friends can enjoy views of our nature park from our coffee shop, where free refreshments are always available – and many residents’ rooms have views of our nature park and the surrounding scenery.
Compassionate staff that go above and beyond
Hengoed Care is proud of its dedicated staff teams. They are highly skilled and qualified and benefit from in-house training to help them further their careers. Many of our staff have been with us for years, working their way up to more senior positions. We have a strong family ethos and are as committed to our staff as we are to our residents, giving them ongoing mentoring so that everybody feels fulfilled and fully equipped to give our residents the best lives possible.
